Microfibre Glass and Window Cloths FAQs
What kind of glass can I clean with a microfibre glass cloth?
In a nutshell: all of them. Microfibre glass cloth filaments have several properties that make them ideal for cleaning glass surfaces across the board. From skyscraper windows to the most delicate glass instrumentation for laboratories and everything in between, their ultra-fine synthetic fibres are soft enough not to scratch even the finest glass while at the same time sucking up dust, dirt, grime, and moisture away from the surface. This capillary action leaves glass streak and watermark-free without the need for chemical detergents or a glass cleaner.
Given these advantages, it's not surprising that many industries that require cost- and energy-effective glass cleaning turn to microfibre to get the job done.
Paragon Microfibre glass cloths are ideal for:
- Car and home windows and mirrors
- Mobile, laptop, and computer screens
- Glass and shower doors
- Picture frames and other glassware
- Skylights and solar panels
- Virtually any other glass in the home
Can I use microfibre cloths on delicate glass and electronics?
Yes, you can. Microfibre cloths are ideal for cleaning sensitive glass and all types of screens. You can use any type of microfibre cloth on delicate glass; however, keeping a dedicated cloth absolutely free of oil and grease for your eyeglasses is a good idea.
How long do microfibre glass cleaning cloths last?
Assuming you’re only cleaning windows, mirrors, photo frames, and other household glass items and vehicles, and washing your microfibre glass cloth as indicated, you can reasonably expect it to last up to 500 machine wash cycles. In practice, this equates to years and years of service.
Using microfibre to clean excessively oily or greasy surfaces without the right detergents, washing them at high temperatures or with harsh chemicals, and using them on rough or jagged surfaces will all reduce their expected lifetime.
How to clean a microfibre glass cloth
If you’re only using your microfibre cloth to clean your spectacle without wetting it, you can get away with simply rinsing the cloth under cold water and wringing it out before air drying. This effectively removes the trapped dust and doesn’t harm the cloth.
If you’re using it wet to clean dirt and grime off other glass surfaces, we recommend machine washing your Paragon Microfibre glass cloth at around 40°C using a mild detergent. Wash dark cloths separately the first few times as the colour might bleed. Avoid using fabric softeners, bleach, or tumble drying above 50°C to avoid harming the filaments and reduce the cloth’s absorbency.
