Microfibre Mop FAQs
How do microfibre mops work?
Microfibre mops work by taking advantage of two physical mechanisms that exist between the ultra-fine and split synthetic fibres: capillary action and electrostatic attraction. Paragon Microfibre filaments are very fine, roughly 1/300th of the diameter of a human hair, and create hundreds of thousands of tiny channels between themselves.
Water can climb up these channels using capillary action, trapping dissolved dirt, dust, and debris in the process, often without the need for chemicals. High-quality microfibre mops can hold several times their own weight in water for unparalleled spill or liquid cleaning performance.
When used dry, microfibre mops’ synthetic filaments develop an electrostatic charge that attracts fine, loose particles like dust, removing even the need for water when cleaning dusty floors or windows.
Benefits of microfibre mops
Microfibre mops hold several advantages and benefits over their natural fibre counterparts.
Microfibre mops:
- Are very effective at cleaning dust, dirt, and grime without the use of chemical cleaning agents.
- Trap more dust, dirt, grime, and bacteria between their fibres than natural fibre mops, making them the more hygienic and effective choice.
- Works as well on glass and mirror as they do on tile, laminate, and other smooth surfaces, making them a versatile cleaning tool around the home and office.
- Can last for hundreds of washes when used as indicated.
What can I clean with a microfibre mop?
Microfibre mops are incredibly versatile, making them popular in homes, offices, and across multiple industries. Use your microfibre mop to clean:
- Hard floors, including vinyl, tile, laminate, hardwood floors, and polished concrete. Avoid using a microfibre mop on rough or splintered surfaces, as the fibres can get snagged and harm the mop.
- Windows and glass for streak-free cleaning and a crystal-clear finish.
- Most of the surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom (use separate mops to avoid cross-contamination).
- Car and vehicle exteriors, windows, and wheels.
- Machinery and workshops. Avoid using on hot or excessively greasy surfaces.
- Outdoor surfaces such as patio furniture and composite decking.
- Blinds and other hard-to-reach spots around the home.
