Microfibre Car Drying Towels FAQs
Why should I dry my car with a microfibre towel?
After a thorough post-wash rinse, car owners have two choices: let the vehicle air dry or actively dry the car using a towel. Actively drying a car after washing it, as opposed to parking it in the sun or just driving off, helps to protect its appearance and paint. Doing it with a microfibre simply makes the process easier, faster, and more effective.
Minerals and contaminants in the water can leave unsightly and undesirable watermarks when allowed to naturally evaporate. Over time, these watermarks may even etch themselves into the paint, requiring polish and a significant amount of elbow grease to remove. Additionally, dust, pollen, and other forms of dirt are more likely to stick to a wet car than a dry one.
Drying a car thoroughly prevents the risk of watermarks and maintains the car’s appearance, paint, and value. It also helps to prepare the paint for a round of wax, sealant, or other detailing products. While natural fibre cloths can get the job done, microfibre car drying towels have several properties that make them uniquely suited for the task.
Why are microfibre towels so good for drying cars?
Microfibre car drying towels offer superior drying qualities compared to natural fibre cloths and towels. Consisting of tightly bunched, ultra-fine, synthetic fibres as thin as 1/300th of a human hair, microfibre towels are:
- Ultra-absorbent: Microfibre towels are made from a blend of polyester and polyamide (nylon) filaments that are split into incredibly fine strands, resulting in a very large surface area per cm2. This large surface area allows microfibre towels to absorb and hold up to 7 or 8 times their weight in water between their fibres through capillary action. The more moisture your towel can absorb per wipe, the faster and more effectively you’ll dry your car.
- Ultra-soft: The split fibres in microfibre car drying towels are extremely soft and non-abrasive. This makes them suitable for car interiors and exteriors and safe to use on paint, glass, and interior detailing with no risk of scratches or swirl marks.
- Versatile: Microfibre car drying towels are available in a number of sizes, densities, weave patterns, or plushiness. A big 1000-GSM towel makes quick work of the roof or hood, while a small diamond-weave glass towel is more convenient on mirrors and interiors.
How long do microfibre car drying towels last?
Assuming you wash and dry the towels as intended, you can expect your Paragon Microfibre car drying towels to last up to 500 machine washes. Even if you wash your car weekly and your towels after each use, you can expect your Paragon Microfibre products to last for several years.
