Why is microfibre good for cleaning cars?
Microfibre cloths have several qualities that make them the go-to for effective and convenient car cleaning, both at home and in the automotive detailing industry. On a microscopic level, microfibre is made of ultra-fine synthetic filaments, approximately 1/300th the width of a human hair. These strands create an enormous surface area—especially when compared to coarser natural fibres—resulting in a highly absorbent material that can hold several times its weight in water. When used to clean cars, the fibres gently lift and trap dirt through capillary action without scratching the paintwork.
Why is microfibre good for drying cars?
The answer is essentially the same as above. With grime and dirt successfully removed, it’s essential to quickly dry the car instead of just letting any remaining moisture evaporate. Even seemingly crystal clear rinsing water may leave watermarks or mineral stains on the paintwork; something that a quick wipe-down can help sidestep in no more than a few minutes. Being ultra-absorbent, a big, heavy-duty microfibre drying towel is just the tool for the job, while smaller, lower-gsm drying towels ensure streak-free windows and spotless interiors.
Do I have to use cleaning products with microfibre?
Microfibre is exceptionally absorbent and can effectively clean most surfaces even without the aid of a detergent. That being said, car care chemicals are specifically designed to make the job easier, faster, and more effective. We recommend using high-quality car care products, applied and used with a microfibre cloth, for the best possible car cleaning results.
How long do microfibre car cloths last?
You can expect your Paragon Microfibre car cloths to last for up to 500 machine wash cycles, making them a very cost-effective solution in the long run. Even with regular use, Paragon Microfibre stays tough on dirt but gentle on paintwork and interior surfaces.
How to take care of microfibre cloths for cars?
While high-quality microfibre products may last for years if taken care of, they are sensitive to certain chemicals and extreme heat, both of which degrade their filaments and reduce absorbency and cleaning power.
- Thoroughly rinse your cloths in clean water after use. Wring out, and allow to air dry.
- If machine washing your microfibre cloths, use warm (up to 60°C) water with a mild detergent and tumble dry at a low setting, or allow to air dry. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, and do not wash or dry at a high-temperature setting.
